CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT THIS. 

Ok so she made a speech right before this.  

“I couldn’t show them my vulnerable side… not even once… even though I know acting tough doesn’t give me strength…” when you think about it, it really describes Erza’s largest struggle.  

Look back at Erza’s life.  When has she ever shown her ‘vulnerability’ to others?  Most of the guild only see her as a tough soldier who’s never down permanently.  Ok, there’s Natsu and Gray, and perhaps Polyusica.  

but Gray saw her crying when she thought no one was around and she immediately toughened up.  Natsu saw it when she believed that she would die.  Perhaps Miliana & the rest of the Tower of Heaven group saw her when they were children.  

and they turned out to be some of her closest friends.  

Then there comes Jellal, her childhood friend.  He’s seen her cry as a little girl, and he brought her to ‘safety’ as well as gave her an identity that was important enough that she kept it for her whole life.  

When you first learn about her past, it’s all related to him.  Her first change of character, the first time you see what she truly thinks, is because of him.  

She’s at her most vulnerable because of him.  She cried after Jellal was taken, and even after all this, she’s able to tell him how she truly feels and she can talk to him about everything.  

He was also at his most vulnerable with her.  When they were kids, at the Tower of Heaven, when he lost his memories and she gave him hope, and when he remembers.  She’s always been his stronghold and the pillar holding him up, giving him a reason to live.  

and in the same way, this shows that he means just as much to her.  Yes, it was cute and ‘the guy saving girl’ thing is often done in shows.  

but she thinks she’s about to die.  She’s literally at her lowest point, to where she couldn’t even stand up.  She’s about to bleed it all out on the ground, literally the most vulnerable state she could be in, and he comes to save her, just like how she saved him when he was about to self destruct.  

it’s her weakest point and he’s there to help her up.  He takes her hand, just like how she took his during the Nirvana incident, and he’s her support.

She’s the most ‘real’ when she’s around him.  Everyone else expects something from her in some degree; she’s always a sign of hope, to lift others’ spirits, to make the battle even.  She has a reputation to uphold.

Jellal has seen her best and her worst.   He knows how she thinks, how she works, and it makes him a tough opponent, and yet he’s the one person she allows to see her weak side.  He brings the real Erza out of the armor she places around her heart.  

It’s such a huge sign of trust on her part, because if she couldn’t show her guild, the people she lived with for many years, her own family, and she’s somehow able to show him.  You’ll probably never see her this close to falling ever again, and it’s no stranger to us that in this moment, it’s Jellal who’s there.  

then what does that mean?  

I feel like this scene was a huge symbolism thing, and it just makes me love this couple a little a lot more.

I was looking at cropped images of these 2 panels in the Jerza tag and my perverted mind just….-///-  Even with the dialogue bubble on it still looks sexy. IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN

But this chapter didn’t disappoint aside from Milliana’s cockblocking.  I love how Gerard managed to find her among all the ruckus. Or if he tried looking for her after talking to the council members after seeing out how battered she was but still won’t admit it.

The fact that ‘Titania’ Erza can’t bring to show her vulnerable side to her fellow guild members, but he’s the one who she can show it to—it makes me giddy with joy. <3

I can’t wait to see the explosion of Jerza fanarts in the net~~

parent is good for doing this because parent is basically saying “yes the behaviours you were born with are great!”

Yup, if babies are ‘taught’ (allowed) to swim before they are six weeks old, they never lose the instincts they were born with that lets them hold their head above water and hold their breath when they need to. SCIENCE, man.
